Álvaro Mamute
Director and screenwriter
Álvaro Mamute is a director and screenwriter from the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. At 32 years old, he has already worked with the largest production companies and streaming services in Brazil. As a screenwriter, he worked on the 2024 Netflix series Senna, on which he also served as Script Editor and historical and motorsport consultant. He has also worked on Impuros (fourth and fifth seasons) on Disney+, and Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri, set to premiere on Netflix in 2026, as well as providing consulting for the documentary on Ronaldinho Gaúcho, also set for release on Netflix in 2026.
As a director, he made the short films Charlie Oscar Echo in 2018, nominated at Rio WebFest in the categories “Best Direction,” “Best Screenplay,” and “Best Actor,” winning the latter two, as well as the short O Jaguar in 2025, nominated at the same festival and winner in the same categories.
As the right-hand man to Senna showrunner and general director Vicente Amorim, Mamute took part in the entire production process of the series, from its pre-development in 2018 through the end of post-production in 2024. He was on set throughout the 8 months of filming and assisted throughout the whole process. He also made the short film O Jaguar with members of the production teams from both Senna and the Oscar-winning film I’m Still Here.
